T’was the months before the election
 [with apologies to Clement Clarke Moore]
T’was the months before the election when all through the house
Not a Senator was stirring, not even a louse;
The policies were hung on the noticepaper with care;
In hopes that the Parliament would soon say hear, hear;

The super funds were huddled with hands on their heads;
While visions of higher premiums spun in their heads;
While Roberts as new minister, and ScoMo in cap;
Hoped not to settle for a long Christmas nap;

When out in the industry there arose such a clatter;
A looming election has likely put paid to the matter.
