AustralianSuper has been named Super Fund of the Year 2020 at Super Review’s Super Fund of the Year Awards, with its research partner, The Heron Partnership.
The coveted win was based on a holistic assessment of the finalists in each award category and AustralianSuper was deemed to be the most outstanding fund this year.
Heron’s chief executive, Chris Butler, said the fund had strong and consistent long-term investment performance with very competitive fees, and ongoing and evolving plans to pass on benefits of scale to members.
It was also praised for its ability to react and empathise with members in difficult times such as free death cover during COVID-19, its full offering from accumulation to retirement phase, comprehensive member servicing, and its experienced trustee board and executive team.

Australia’s second-largest super fund has confirmed it is expanding its presence in the UK following significant investment in the region.
A member of the super fund has approached ASIC to investigate potentially misleading or deceptive representations by UniSuper regarding the holdings of its sustainable portfolios.
The median growth fund delivered 1.9 per cent in March, adding to the “stunning” rally that has seen super funds gain 11 per cent since November.
Vanguard has affirmed its support for the current super performance test, emphasising the importance of keeping the process straightforward.
Australian Super, the same fund that reduced the value of their unlisted assets by only 9% at the height of COVID while every other asset on the planet was down 30%. The same assets then miraculously increased in value by 7% just prior to the end of the financial year. It's a miracle. Easy to perform well when you control the valuations of the underlying assets and produce your own reporting.
