Westpac Institutional Bank has created an Asia Advisory Board, appointing Singaporean government minister Hwee Hua Lim as its first non-executive member.
The bank had also appointed Anju Abrol as chief risk officer responsible for risk management across Asia for Westpac, as well as to support its business strategy in the region.
The Asia Advisory Board, which is chaired by Westpac Institutional Bank chief executive officer Rob Whitfield, will advise management on the bank’s strategies and initiatives in the region.
Lim served as Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for Transport and was the first female minister of Singapore’s Cabinet.
Apart from Lim and Whitfield, the Board will include one other non-executive member - general manager for Asia, Bala Swaminathan.
Anju Abrol, who has been appointed the bank’s new chief risk officer, joins Westpac from Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Joining Westpac’s Asia leadership team, she will report to WIB’s Sydney-based chief risk officer Andrew Carriline as well as Balaji Swaminathan, Westpac general manager, Asia.
“Anju has an impressive track record working in the areas of risk and credit management as well as extensive experience in building regional risk management strategies that support sustainable growth,” Carriline said.
