Former Bank of New York Mellon Asset Management Australia managing director, James Gruver, has been appointed to global alternative asset management firm Black River Asset Management.
The appointment was confirmed this week, with Gruver being appointed to head up global investor relations.
Black River chief executive Gary Jarrett said Gruver would be responsible for expanding Black River’s global brand footprint, developing new business and deepening strategic relationships with institutional investors, investment consultants and intermediaries.
“As institutional investors around the world continue to look to alternative investments to enhance diversification and manage volatility and downside risk, we believe James is uniquely suited to deliver Black River’s entire suite of hedge fund and private equity solutions,” he said.
Gruver’s brief is expected to see him operating within the Australian market for Black River.
The fund has announced three executive-level appointments, including a new chief investment officer.
The super fund has tapped a former Vanguard and Plato Investment Management executive to lead its fixed interest team.
The firm has grown its wealth management team with an experienced distribution specialist.
