Future Fund picks new equities director

Ben Griffiths has joined Australia's sovereign wealth fund as director of equities.

Previously, he had been with TCorp since 2017, and was most recently head of equities, partner selection for two years.

He had been responsible for seeking out attractive value adding manager strategies for its portfolios, particularly focusing on developed market, emerging market and Australian equities. 

Additionally, he worked with the portfolio construction to ensure that implemented strategies were consistent with the approach, philosophy and portfolio construction guidelines and with the stewardship team to embed TCorp’s ESG policies into its portfolio management. 

Griffith’s experience would also include 14 years at Willis Towers Watson, four of which were served as head of Australian equity manager research. 

His appointment at Future Fund marked the second senior executive role to be filled at the fund this month.

Earlier this week, David Bluff, a former partner and managing director of The Carlyle Group, was named head of private equity.

He had previously led or was actively involved in all Carlyle transactions in Australia and New Zealand for over a decade. 

As of 31 December 2022, Future Fund held some $196 billion in assets under management.
