Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) head of credit risk analytics, Guy Eastwood, has been recognised in the Australia Day Honours with the Public Service Medal.

The regulator this week congratulated Eastwood on being named as a recipient of the medal, which was award for outstanding service in the development and implementation of financial sector policy.

APRA Chairman, Wayne Byres, said Eastwood was recognised for his leadership and acknowledged expertise in the field of risk modelling and capital adequacy for banking in Australia.

He said Eastwood was the pre-eminent expert in his field in Australia, and one of a small group of global experts.

Eastwood's public service has spanned 35 years, having worked at APRA since its formation in 1998 and before that with the Reserve Bank of Australia.
